4:00am...I slept a bit better than I expected to, knowing the excitement that was coming all too soon. But I woke up about an hour before my alarm was set to go off, and my mind started racing. All the preparing, planning, and packing was done. Besides getting dressed and packing up my toothbrush, I was left with nothing more to do. It finally sank in. I was having a baby today. There were no more days left. Barely even minutes. Within hours we were going to be a family of 4. Then it hit me. I was having a c-section. I was walking into the unknown. I was immediately scared. All the stuff was done, and all I was left with was a fear that I hadn't addressed. So I did what everyone does when they are scared in the middle of the night... I got out my iPhone to distract me, of course.
4:15...4:30...4:45...you wouldn't think there was that much to look at on a phone, but between instagram, Facebook, and twitter, it wasn't too difficult to just keep my mind occupied. Then it hit me again. The fear. My alarm was about to go off. This was about to get real.
Pray was all I could do. What I should have done 45 minutes ago. As I prayed, Fear is surrounding me, God...I had no huge revelation. Just a peace. He simply calmed my heart with the words from this song; "Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me, you've never failed, and you won't start now." God wouldn't fail me. I had nothing to fear because, no matter what happened that day, God would reign.
5:00...alarm. Game time, Here we go...
You call me out above the waters
The great unknown
Where feet may fail
And there I find you in the mystery
In oceans deep
My faith will stand
And I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine
Your grace abounds in deepest waters
Your sovereign hand
Will be my guide
Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me
You've never failed
and You won't start now
So I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine
