Not Me Monday (Episode 10)

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week. For those of your unfamiliar with the idea, Not Me! Monday was born out of a desire to admit some of our imperfections and reveal a few moments we'd rather forget. You may find it therapeutic to
join in and do the same thing!

Well, I guess I can start of with the obvious. It surely hasn't been 3 weeks since I posted my last not-me post! There is no way that I have been flu-stricken for 3 full weeks now. On antibiotics and constant meds, It could not be me who can be found even still today without a voice. No Way!

I don't typically fall into fads/teen obsessions. That being said, there's no way that I was roped into watching not only the first but also the second movie of the "Twilight Series." And it definitely wasn't me who liked them so much that I went home and downloaded the third book to my phone and can't stop reading. Really. Can't. Stop. Not. Me.

And, lastly, I did not forget my hairbrush on my weekend excursion to see Jen and baby Eden up in Bloomington. I am well aware of the fact that I only own one hairbrush and would be left in quite the pickle if I didn't make sure to take it home with me. And, had I somehow accidentally forgotten it, there is absolutely no way in the world that I would have been caught using my dog's brush after I got out of the shower last night. I mean that is seriously gross. (But please know that if this somehow were true, I DEFINITELY DID clean it out very thoroughly and it DEFINITELY was my only option.) But that doesn't matter because, remember, it wasn't me.

Not Me Monday (Episode 9)

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week. For those of your unfamiliar with the idea, Not Me! Monday was born out of a desire to admit some of our imperfections and reveal a few moments we'd rather forget. You may find it therapeutic to

***UPDATE***
for those concerned, I DID take the "please note" out of my voicemail.
I apologize for my moment of weakness... ;)

This week, I definitely made up for my lack of "not me's" from last week...

Well, let's start off with the fact that Bryan and I are not still in our bad eating rut. Seriously, there is no way that we had McDonald's twice this week, one night ate only Caramel apples for dinner, and definitely didn't eat trail mix in bed more than once this week. That's just gross and unsanitary. Seriously. Gross. Not us.

Also, it was not me who has been so irritated (because I don't get irritated) at people who think that photography companies are open 24 hours a day. People calling all weekend asking for immediate call backs don't frustrate me. So, it surely is not my voice mail that now states "please note our office hours are..." "Please note"? I would never be so
matter-of-fact-borderline-harsh in a voicemail. Not sweet little me...
(Oh and it didn't take me about 30 minutes to record the new message because I couldn't get it in just the right tone that I wanted it to be in...polite but down to business...)

Bryan and I inherited 200 pounds of raw veggies from the Dave Shultz Food Imporium last week. We are very appreciative of his generosity, but we had to find something to do with all of the veggies! Therefore, it wasn't me that decided last night to make a "spinach veggie dip" instead of just getting out the bottle of ranch dressing in attempt to consume of some of the veggies. So, it wasn't me that thought it was a good idea to stray from the ingredients and add a few of my own (not with my cooking history...). No way. And it wasn't me that ended up with this green-mess that in no way shape or form resembled a veggie dip.

(just part of the veggie collection...)

(My "Spinach Dip" AKA - green goop)

Oh and did anyone happen to see this picture, that I tweeted about on Saturday?

Well, for those still wondering what happened...

It was not me, in an attempt to be nice and let someone sit at a table with us at the reception, who thought it was a good idea to lean on the folded chair next to me as I scooted over to it. I would never think that a folding chair would hold my weight as I moved over with a cup of bright red punch in my other hand. I surely did not lean on said chair, causing it to fold up in half, resulting in my chin smacking into the table and my bright red punch being spilled all over the table and my husbands white dress shirt. Not me. Oh, and the other people at the table were not so completely appalled at the situation that they didn't even laugh. They surely didn't just stare at me in dusgust leaving me to be the only one laughing at myself. Not at a wedding. Not in front of complete strangers.
Not me. Please lord, not me.

And furthermore, while waiting for the reception to start (pre-drink spilling catastrophe...) Bryan and I did not go up to the balcony and attempt to get a picture of ourself on my IPhone. We did not possibly get caught taking ridiculous pictures like these...never really resulting in a keeper. We aren't stubborn enough to not ask someone to just take the darn picture for us. Not us.

Also last night, While cleaning up the paint from youth group last night, it wasn't me that was heard gagging and spitting out the dark brown painty-water that I mistook for my cup of coffee. Surely I was paying attention to what I was doing enough to tell the difference between coffee and paint! Not me!

Oh, and to top it all off, remember that spinach dip I didn't make? Well afterwards, I wasn't cleaning up the kitchen in a frenzy so that my husband wouldn't find me sulking in my failure when he returned from the gym. And in the midst of this frenzy, I DID NOT pull the beaters out of the mixer so hard that my arm slammed into the bowl of green-mess, throwing it to the ground. Oh, and Stanley was not on the ground when it fell. No way did I spill it all over the floor, myself, and my poor puppy.
Not. A. Chance.

And for those of you concerned at what he is doing in this picture, rest assured, I was not letting him lick a majority of the goop off the floor so that I didn't have to clean up as much. There is absolutely no way I would stop to take a picture of the chaos instead of shooing off the dog and cleaning it up immediately.

None of these things ever happened...

2 things...

Does this look familiar?

Well let me tell you 2 things...

1) It was not taken the same day as this picture, seen not too long ago...

2) It might be an even funnier story than the last time I attempted to cook a spinach meal
(remember the spinach all over the walls!??!)

Check back tomorrow for the full story...

Night all :)

Hats For Cancer

Hey Blog Readers!

I've added a button on the side of my page that I hope you take a moment and check out.

Here is a GREAT way to get a Christmas gift crossed off your list and at the same time help out some kids in need.

I told you all a while ago about a little girl, Kate, who is battling a very aggressive brain tumor. She is doing well, but the journey is long from over. A lot of kids and families out there have a long, hard battle ahead of them. One of the huge battles for these kids is the fact that the Chemo therapy causes them to lost their hair. May not seem all that huge in comparison to everything else that they are dealing with, but its a constant physical reminder of all that they are going through.

Some friends of mine, over at Briar.Claire, make these beautiful hand crocheted hats for little girls. They are just adorable. They know this battle with cancer is a tough one and are doing their share to help out this month. For every hat that they sell in the Month of October, they will donate one to the local Children's Cancer hospital. Last I checked, they had donated about 200 hats and it was only 10 days into the month! I'm sure they have blown by that number by now. Let's make that number even higher!

Please buy a hat. Please. Please. Please.

I don't feel bad begging for a good cause. We are blessed. Remember to thank God for your health and your family's health and please say a prayer for these little kids and their families.

Please buy a hat.

Buy one for your little niece or cousin or daughter or sister or cute kid down the street. Or if you don't have a little girl to give one to, donate it to your local hospital.

Buy one. Or ten. Or any number in between.

A little bit can go a long way. We can help.

Not Me Monday (Episode 8)

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week. For those of your unfamiliar with the idea, Not Me! Monday was born out of a desire to admit some of our imperfections and reveal a few moments we'd rather forget. You may find it therapeutic to
join in and do the same thing!

Well for starters, it's not me who would ever complain about my husbands love for doing laundry. That's right, he likes to do laundry! If I were lucky enough to have a husband who did the laundry, then I surely wouldn't have gotten upset with him because he decided to put all of the towels in one load of laundry. It wasn't me who had to dry off with a concoction of hand towels and wash clothes and so of course it wasn't me who made sure my husband knew how ridiculous of an idea it was to wash all the towels in one load. I would never get angry over something so silly in risk that he might cease doing laundry all together...Not Me!

And speaking of laundry, I would never take the clean clothes from the dryer and rewash them just so that I wouldn't feel bad about washing my jeans alone so that I could wear them the next day. I would never re-wash clean clothes just to justify washing 1 pair of pants!

At lunch yesterday, while Bryan and I were enjoying our pizza and ranch dressing, it definitely wasn't me who some how lost grip of my fork thus throwing my hand into the pile of ranch dressing causing the largest ranch dressing disaster of 2009. Ranch everywhere. All over Bryan's face, clothes, the counter, the tables, the floors, and of course all over myself as well. Surely I couldn't have created such a mess. (My only real regret is not taking pictures...)

And it wasn't me who somehow came up with the perfect combination of silver polish and pledge any surface wipes to make Bryan's grandma's old kitchen cabinet handles shine like they were new. It was not my fault that all us cousins spent the entire evening scrubbing handles until our fingers were about to fall off...

Oh, and it surely wasn't my husband who decided to turn on the oven before checking what was inside. Don't worry, someone else had not put a tupperware in the oven and Bryan did not start a fire in the house. nope. didn't happen.

It definitely wasn't me who was glued to her computer all Thursday evening waiting for the next round of Old Navy Weekly coupons to come out! I'm not that big of a coupon clipper that I would waste my evening sitting by a computer waiting for one stinkin' coupon!

And furthermore, it wasn't me who was jumping around the room in joy as a response to finding a $50 off $100 coupon! And just as quickly it surely wasn't me whose joy turned into frustration upon finding out that I must have entered my email address into the website wrong because the never emailed the coupon to me. Seriously?? I was not so excited as to have entered my own email incorrectly thus getting nothing for my evening wasted on the computer!!! Not Me! (and I'm definitely not still bitter about it...)

Lastly, just so you know, being the prepared gal that I am, I figured out how to set this post to automatically post at 8:00am Monday morning so that I wouldn't forget my "not me monday" this week. Well upon checking my blog last night, it wasn't me who got the dates mixed up and accidentally set it to post on tuesday, not monday. Ugh, I'm not that disorganized...

What have you not done this week?!

Beauty in the Ordinary

Inspired by MckMama's post here

I thought I would add my "Beauty in the Ordinary" picture for today. I love this thought.

How often do we stop and just enjoy the beauty of everyday life?

How many times do we let it pass right by?

Let's take today (and everyday for that matter) to stop and experience the ordinary.

And call the ordinary as it is; beautiful.
