Dip Anyone?

Dip and nap football season is here!

I'm not a huge football fan (I'm actually much more of a baseball girl...), but my husband has already started his fantasy drafts and I guess games are raring to go. Even though I don't get into it like he does, I must do my best to enjoy football because if not, I will spend every Sunday and Monday from now through the Superbowl not enjoying life!

So, besides the occasional awesome play here and there, I have found my own 2 joys in football season.

1) Naps. There is nothing like coming home from church on Sunday, grabbing a blanket and a couch, and snoozing away to the football game.

2) Friends and food. Monday night games call for friends and finger foods. I may not be completely aware of what is going on with the game, but I sure can have a good conversation and eat my share of chips and dip!

Bringing me to the great news! BooMama, a blogger I just found out about today, hosted a "2009 dip-tacular" event on her blog. She shared some of her favorite dips for football season and then left the blog open for others to leave their favorites.

Thinking of chips and dip makes my mouth water. And if you know me, I can just about down a whole bag of tortilla chips single-handedly.

Here are my 2 go to favorite dips...
(I know my cooking hasn't served me well, but no worries, these are too easy for even me to mess up!)

Chili Cheese Dip:
1 can ChiliMan Chili
1 package velveta cheese
1/4 cup milk

cut the velveta into cubes and mix it all together and either
(a) put it in a pot on the stove (medium, stirring continually) or
(b) put it in a microwavable dish and cook on high for 1 minute, take out and stir, repeat until completely melted.
let sit for 5 minutes to thicken

Rotel Cheese Dip
Exact same recipe except use 1 can Rotel in place of the chili

Check out the DipTacular here for tons of great ideas!!!

And just incase you didn't notice the subliminal message in this post -I'm clearly a bears fan! =)

Please play along and help a sister out. Leave a comment your favorite dips for me to try out this season!!

  3. That buffalo chicken dip is SO GOOD. Definitely try it out. Also, believe it or not, a container of sour cream with onion salt (to taste) makes a KILLER onion dip.

And if you like something with vegetables, you can make a killer spinach dip with Knorr Vegetable soup mix, sour cream, mayonnaise, and some water chestnuts. I think the recipe is on the back of the soup mix package.
